Graduation Day is Bitter Sweet

It is amazing how you bring home this tiny baby and you just want them to grow into wonderful beautiful people.  Then one day, they are all grown up and ready to take on the world.  How can I be so proud and so sad at the same time?

TiAnna is the 4th of our 9 children.  The first girl.  She is the perfect mix of tomboy and girl.  Looks great in a dress and knows how to shoot a gun.

Homeschooled her entire life I think makes this even more difficult.  There has barely been a day that she wasn't home with me.  I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

The beauty of homeschooling is being able to make each child's education unique to them.  Starting in 9th grade TiAnna joined the local high schools golf team. With plans to become a professional golfer, she put her heart and soul into her sport.

She still had the time to learn the piano
Participate in the Miss American Program
 Act in plays at Church

Over her four years of high school TiAnna struggled with her health and sports injuries.  Bravely, she continued with her school work, trying to keep up so she could continue with her career plans.  With a severe allergic reaction the summer after her freshman year, she lost too much weight.  She struggled to be healthy and feel well enough to keep going.  Continuing to play golf, she made it to the State Tournament.

So Proud!

Then she bruised the bone in her wrist (yes, playing golf!).  I thought this was suppose to be a safe sport.  After months of pain and not healing, she was put in a cast.  Coming out of the cast just before her junior season, she went straight back to it.  Once on the course, she realized her hips which had been hurting were not any better.  Refusing to miss her junior year she played everyday with aching hips.

Turns out she had torn ligaments in both hips requiring surgery.  So in the fall of her senior year she went through TWO hip surgeries!  What a brave girl. (I cried more then she knows).  Not able to pick up a club for months was hard for someone who is out on the course daily, and works at two courses and teaches junior golf.  Not sure how well she would be able to golf again didn't stop her.  She started contacting colleges during her down time.

Barely able to golf again, she was in a car accident.  Hit from behind.  More pain, more dr.'s appts., more time in physical therapy.  I think she has spent more time at physical therapy in the last 3 years than anywhere.

Competing again in the Miss America Program, during her off time.  I don't even know how she pushes herself so hard.  She couldn't even wear heels till right up to the pageant.  And it hurts her hips to do it.  But she confidently danced on stage.  She was absolutely beautiful!

With an interested coach and a dream, TiAnna headed into her Senior year with very little time.  The season started off rocky.  She has an injury in her shoulder and needs to regain her stamina to play.  By the end of the season she was getting back her confidence.

Making it to both days at the State Tournament.  I was there to see her SHINE as she parred hole after hole.

Senior year over, party done, all grown up.  TiAnna has accepted an offer to a college.  So proud and so sad!  She'll be leaving us in August.  I can't believe she is all grown up.  I don't even know how that happened.

TiAnna, I want you to know without a doubt you are an AMAZING person.  I am so proud of you for who you are and what you strive to be.   Always remember that I love you, Daddy loves you and God loves you!  You are going to do great things!
